Goal: To provides an overview of the numerous repercussions of incest. It will explore typical ways that victims attempted to cope with the trauma. In addition, the course will discuss the healing process to move from victim to survivor. The needs and struggles of partners of survivors will also be presented. Special issues of male survivors will be highlighted as well. | |

CSM 100 - Compassion Stress Management Overview (1 contact hour)

Continuing Education Credit: 1 contact hour
Time to Complete Course: 7 days
Objective: To provide an overview of compassion stress and compassion fatigue. In this course, you will learn:
- Define compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout
- Differentiate between burnout and compassion fatigue
- List at least five symptoms of compassion stress/compassion fatigue
- List at least five means of reducing compassion stress

Goal: To provide each course participant with the knowledge and skills necessary to reduce the secondary impact of working with traumatized people.
Objectives:
- Articulates the developmental history of compassion fatigue including
countertransference, caregiver stress, burnout, vicarious traumatization, and secondary traumatic stress.
- Differentiates between compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, and vicarious traumatization.
- Articulates current theoretical models for the etiology and transmission of compassion fatigue.
